It’s been a brilliant summer with great racing results for some Royal Western members.
The RWYC triumphed at the Trebeurden Race. Club member Dan Flanagan with his Mumm 36 Sunburst, and member Adam Littlejohn with his Jeanneau 36.2 Flying Colours, came top in the IRC and PHN classes.
Member Andrew Sinclair won the RORC Commodore’s Cup as part of the Celtic Team on board the First 40 Adventurer. It was a week of very testing racing conditions with a full range of strong tides and heavy weather, to light conditions and sun and rain.
The J80 National Championships, which were on Saturday 18th August – Monday 20th August, saw members Nick and Annie Haigh racing on Slightly Steamy, with Andrew Sinclair. Racing took place in Christchurch Bay and 17 J80’s competed for the national title. Nick and Annie had a great result with second overall.
The last week of August was Dartmouth Regatta where club members Daniel Drew, Bethany Hayward, Youth Academy member Tom Gurney and our Sailing Secretary Hannah Hayward competed onboard the J24, Italian Job. With several days of very light wind racing the team did fantastically and won their class, IRC 3.
Well done to everyone!
