1884 Series

Dates: Wednesday nights, April – August. Start Time: 6.30pm

The 1884 Series was so named after a trophy that was awarded to the winner of the 1884 Trophy Series and has been awarded to the Series winners ever since.

The Series is run throughout the Summer but split into 3 shorter parallel series with prizes awarded to the winner of each. There is also an overall 1884 Series winner, awarded at the end of the season as well as daily prizes which are awarded in the Club House after each race.

The courses are windward/leeward and set either inside or outside of the Breakwater depending on the weather conditions. There are a range of starts for different handicaps and one design classes all of which are set from a committee boat line.

After racing, results, prizes and supper are held in the Club House. Racing is open to anyone with a valid handicap or measurement certificate. We actively encourage people to come and race in the Series and would be pleased to accommodate new one-design classes that can bring 5 boats or more to the start line.

NOTE:

With effect from Wednesday 25th May, the IRC fleet will be split. Boats with a rating of 0.970 and above will go into IRC A (Pennant 1) and those of 0.969 or less go into IRC B.
