Programme

Cadets are held Monday and Tuesday evenings, meeting between 1700 and 2030 throughout the sailing season.

To enrol as a cadet at the Club children need to be eight years old and can continue sailing in the cadet section until the age of 18 when they can then become full club members.

Monday nights are dedicated to Seniors / Intermediates and Tuesdays for Juniors / Intermediates. The juniors, which are those who want to sail and need continuous help initially, are taught by Annie Hosken along with other Cadet Helpers on Tuesdays.

Intermediates who are coached but can sail without an instructor in the boat are taught by David Taylor also on a Tuesday.

On Mondays we have the Intermediates who can sail a triangular course and can start race training who are taught by Mike Gentle. Also on Mondays we have Seniors complete race training who are taught by myself, Peter Noakes and David Hickman.

Joining the Cadets
To join the Cadets, you must be a member of the Royal Western Yacht Club but you are welcome to join as an individual member, even if your parents aren’t members of the Club themselves. You will need to turn up on the Cadet Registration night in March early 2011 (date to be confirmed), fill in some forms and pay your subs for the year.
