Cadets
The Cadet section at the Royal Western Yacht Club expanded this year with 50 Cadets now enrolled on Monday and Tuesday evenings, meeting between 1700 and 2030 throughout the sailing season.
The Cadet section has been lucky to obtain three additional Picos this year through its Plymouth College link and now has a fleet of 7 Laser 3000s, 3 Picos, 3 Fevas, one Vision and 5 Mirrors. Many Plymouth college students and teachers have become members of the Royal Western Yacht Club and have fully embraced cadets on a Monday and Tuesday evening.
The Cadets section has an annual Swallows and Amazons weekend at Roadford Reservoir which is thoroughly enjoyed by all. The weekend is an intense couple of days sailing and fun with many Cadets returning year on year. We also have past Cadets (Team Xtreme!) that come along to the weekend to enjoy sailing, camping and the Saturday night barbeque.
At the end of the sailing season we hold an annual prize giving event to acknowledge the hard work that the Cadets have put in over the year whilst also announcing the winner of the Cadet race training evenings.
