BLUE DEMON
|
Blue Demon is a Maxi 1100 bought new in 2005 and sailed in the Solent and Channel since then. She has helped Guy develop a taste for two-handed racing in the Royal Southampton Yacht Club's series last year. He is hoping for better results in this race with the help of an ambitious co-skipper.

Guy Warner - Skipper
After a degree in mathematics at Oxford, Guy Warner was a Submariner for 16 years before joining Industry to continue the development of Naval computer systems. Aged 65, he retired six years ago with blue water adventures in mind.
He started sailing in earnest some 20 years ago with the purchase of a Moody 28. He has subsequently owned a Moody 336 and a Dehler 41DS in which he completed ARC 99 and ARC Europe 2000 and raced in Antigua Sailing Week 2000, Cork Week 2002 and West Highland Week 2003 with limited success but great enjoyment. Since retiring, he has covered over 25000 cruising miles including the Classic Malts Cruise 2003 in the Western Isles which he rates as among the most stimulating!
Nicki Crutchield - Co-Skipper
Nicki Crutchield is a 36 year old house husband to a wife and two small children. He has sailed out of Watermouth Harbour in North Devon for the last 10 years in a variety of boats. All his sailing has been either single-handed or as joint skipper.
In 2002, he sailed their Sabre 27 to the Canaries via Spain and Portugal. Some of his other cruises have been to Southern Ireland, the Scilly Isles and the South West Coast.
Nicki's current yacht is an Illingworth and Primrose Apache 29 based at Watermouth.
He likes the rigours of offshore racing and regards this race as a major opportunity.
